NeuroCuple® Technology, Patents & Clinical Evidence
NeuroCuple® is built on patented nanocapacitive technology designed to provide drug-free, reusable pain relief without batteries, wires, or medication. This page brings together how the technology works, the patents that protect it, and the published clinical research behind it — in one place.
How NeuroCuple® Technology Works
NeuroCuple® is a passive nanocapacitive platform — it doesn't rely on an external power source, battery, or electrical stimulation. Instead, it's built from layered materials designed to interact with the body's natural bioelectrical environment near the area where it's placed. The technology is incorporated into lightweight, reusable devices that can be worn during normal daily activity.
Because the device is passive, it doesn't produce heat, vibration, or a noticeable sensation the way a heating pad or TENS unit would. It's designed to support the body's own processes rather than mask discomfort with an external stimulus — which is also why it can be reused indefinitely rather than discarded after one use.
Patent Portfolio
The NeuroCuple® patent portfolio covers the materials, structures, manufacturing methods, and techniques used to build the device — protecting a specific, non-invasive approach to pain relief that doesn't rely on drugs, batteries, electrical stimulation, heating elements, or consumable components.
Together, these patents form the foundation of NeuroCuple® technology and help ensure long-term product quality, consistency, and continued development. NeuroCuple® technology was invented by Rhett F. Spencer and has evolved through multiple generations of research, development, and patent protection.
Clinical Research & Evidence
NeuroCuple® has been evaluated in published clinical research, including a randomized, placebo-controlled trial and an earlier open-label pilot study. This evidence supports controlled evaluation and clinical discussion — it does not support replacing standard medical care or medication decisions made with your doctor.
Randomized, Sham-Controlled Trial (2026)
The trial also found fewer episodes of postoperative nausea and vomiting and less rescue antiemetic use in the active-device group, though these trends did not reach statistical significance at this study's size. No serious device-related adverse events were reported; device-related effects (skin irritation, discomfort, compression) were mild and resolved with adjustment or removal.
Open-Label Pilot Study (2023)
This earlier pilot study helped motivate the larger, randomized, placebo-controlled trial above. Together, the two studies represent a growing body of evidence — from an initial open-label signal to a confirmatory, blinded, sham-controlled trial.

About Our Products
PainRelief.io® devices are designed to be simple to use. Just place the device near the area of discomfort and adjust as needed to find the position that feels most effective.
Each device is thin, reusable, wearable, and easy to use — with no batteries, no wires, no creams, and no drugs.
Inside each device is our patented NeuroCuple® layer, sealed between two durable waterproof layers. This technology is designed to work with your body’s natural bioelectrical environment in a simple, non-invasive way.
Some users report sensations such as warmth, cooling, or tingling during use, while others feel little or nothing at all.
PainRelief.io® devices are intended as general wellness products designed to support comfort, physical activity, and everyday function.
